Company History

Tele Guia de Chicago was established in 1985 in the home of the company founder, Ezequiel Montes Jr. He utilized an empty apartment in his home as Tele Guia’s first office. It was here where he and his wife Rose began what was to be a very fulfilling entrepreneurial journey through the world of publishing. Tele Guia’s main advertising contributors began with local community businesses that were primarily Latino owned. Recognizing the growth of Spanish Print, Tele Guia became a member of the National Association of Hispanic Publications. As the Hispanic population grew, so did the popularity of Tele Guia, offering Spanish entertainment news, novella synopsis and programming in both English & Spanish. In 1991, Tele Guia had increased its circulation from the original 15,000 to 20,000. Tele Guia could be found in every corner of Chicago’s Mexican Community. Technology began to effect the operations with four computers in-house changing the look of Tele Guia. By 1995, Tele Guia made its way to a new location, where it continues to operate today. Here, TG was able to expand each of its departments, making for efficient service and a high quality publication. This was also the year that TG began to receive annual audits by a certified company. In 1996, www.teleguia.us came to life giving TeleGuia extended visibility. This website today is accessed by visitors from every corner of the world. Averages of 300,000 visitors are received monthly. The following year, in 1997, zoning was integrated into the publication to offer affordable display advertising for single-shop owners. This also made it possible to offer market targeting for inserts as well. Today, TeleGuia has earned its staying power in the Hispanic Market and continues to be the only Spanish TV Guide & Entertainment Magazine in the Chicago Area.

After 20 years in the community, Tele Guia is recognized as a community partner…reflecting the sincere and committed involvement that is important to the community's development. Tele Guia celebrates the unique Latino culture by participating in many local events such as….the Cinco de Mayo festivities…the Puerto Rican Parade… the Mexican Independence Parade and Grito…. the cultural activities of the Mexican Federations…community health fairs….festivals for kids and families….women's fairs and conferences….music concerts….and more! In another valiant outreach effort, Tele Guia hosts the Latino Book & Family Festival, an event promoting literacy in the Hispanic community! Oprah nailed it when she said the best feeling you can enjoy is making other people happy. Circus, Disney on Ice, large children production shows like Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake and such and of course there are the prizes of bikes and toys. From teenagers to adult, the ever popular Find the Words contest offers participants to enter a raffle for a free IPOD. As if that weren’t enough, Tele Guia hands off tickets to popular upcoming concerts, romantic dinners, and trips to Mexico.
